LIS.DOCTOR

ABOUT

Welcome. My name is Jon Lis, and in my day job I'm a primary care physician in central Connecticut.

This website/blog is a culmination and a compilation of interesting ideas and information, largely gathered from others much brighter than myself. It is a selfish project to help me keep everything in one place, easily sharable to others through hyperlinks and the magic of the internet. It focuses on medical and non-medical topics alike, and is exclusive to things that interest me. Learn what the website is NOT by reading the Terms of Use.

My formal education includes:
- B.A. (Chemistry)* from Wesleyan University
- M.D. from University of Connecticut School of Medicine
- Residency in Internal Medicine / Primary Care, Yale University School of Medicine
- Board Certified by American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)

I have several core personal beliefs:

  1. Physicians should taste their own medicine (i.e. they should practice what they preach)
  2. Changing one's mind in the face of better evidence is imperative
  3. Every fact has a half-life - don't believe everything you think
  4. Climate change is the single most important global health issue facing our world today**

Outside of the practice of medicine, I enjoy devouring audiobooks (check out my favorites HERE) and Podcasts, playing the drums, lifting heavy things, and spending time with my family.

Check out what I'm currently doing on my NOW page.

I am not on any social media whatsoever. If you have something compelling you need to share, e-mail me.

* Yes, you read that correctly. That is a Bachelor of Arts, not Science, in Chemistry.
** Disagree? Read this 2018 report by Watts et. al. published in The Lancet. For a less technical and much shorter read outlining why uncertainty about the climate crisis underscores the importance of addressing it, read this
